It’s been some time since I sent this mail out but it’s back! So what is Jimuzikk Mailout all about then? Well it’s an update on what’s being played on my weekly mix show
‘The Bhangra Mixtape’
If your not aware the show is a 2 hour non stop mix of the most upfront Bhangra/Punjabi cuts mixed into House, Hip Hop, Dubstep, Funk D&B and a whole lot more. Bhangra music is a very strong form of music and when mixed with the above will create something very special in your ear!

Ok let’s get to it, in all the show had a total of 31 tracks but I won’t go into each one.
Here’s just a few:
PBN Ft Balwinder Bhatti & Gurlej Akhtar- ‘Fitteh Moo’ - (Limitless Records) PBN is a producer that’s been a firm fixture in the UK Bhangra industry for the last 7 years or so. This Birmingham based producer seems to have the midas touch in creating the kind of Bhangra tracks that get played on most Desi dance floors. This new track doesn’t disappoint and is pretty much back to the now PBN staple sound of uplifting Bhangra production finished off with some catchy vocals from Balwinder & Gurlej. So what are they on about. Well the usual punjabi fair. Wife is not happy with her hubby’s drinking and he promises to buy her a pair of shoes to appease his love. Great track! Lil Amit Ft Kaka Bhaniawala – ‘Nachdi’ – (White) It says in the press release for this new young producer that he’s offering something fresh, new and exciting. Have we heard this before? The holy grail this track isn’t but instead what we have here is a bonafide dance floor banger. One of those Bhangra tracks that fit nicely in your DJ set at a party and everyone who’s dancing didn’t really mind it was played after all. It also features the vocals of the late vocalist Kaka Bhaniwala so that alone should be worth a listen. Just like when Tupac passed I feel we’ll not be hearing the last of Kaka on forthcoming Bhangra tracks for a very very very long time. This is all in all a good track and can see it picking up some pace. Check it out 0:16:50 in
Bups Saggu Ft G Money & jaswinder Daghamia – ‘Chandeh” - (Moviebox) Take Daghamia’s sharp vocals, a stint from MC G money some soaring synth lines a big bad bass line topped with some tough Desi percussion and we have here a big big tune! This is one of those Bhangra tracks that holds a lot of weight in my opinion and I feel if well known producer Aman hayer had produced it would be bigger than it is. I hope this is released as a single as it’s get all the hallmarks for a great track. Bups Saggu’s album is a well produced, the first single from the album featuring Miss Pooja titled ‘Photo Rakh Ke’ has been massively popular recently. But this track will be in my bag for some time Check it out 0:19.30 in
Taj E & Bee 2 – ‘La Bhangra’ - (The Soundpipe Records) You guessed it La Bamba makes a return but this time with some Bhangra beats for company. This one’s been out for a few weeks now but still sounds great. A great party tune and you have to give it to the guys, they’re trying something that little different Check it out 0:27:50 in
JK – England Nachda – (VIP Records) If your new to Bhangra then let me introduce you to JK. He’s a UK based Punjabi singer who’s been on the UK scene for a couple of years now and has recently dropped his anticipated album ‘Gabru Punjab Dha’. This man’s vocals are so sharp they could cut glass. He’s got a lot of expectation on his shoulders as he’s constantly being compared to another high pitched singer who’s had his fair share of success over the years that man Jazzy B. This track track in particular takes things on a Hip Hip vibe and that’s not surprising considering UK producer Tru Skool is on top of production duties. This is nasty. Turn it up! The Cool Kids Ft Asher Roth, Chip Tha Ripper & Boldy James – ‘Roll Call’ – (White) If you like old skool Hip Hop production than this one’s got it in droves. A piano hook running over a simple beat while keeping the whole thing together some great MC’ing over the top via Asher Roth et el. This kind of Hip Hop is always a pleasure to listen to as we just don’t get enough of it these days. Check it out 0:37:04 in
Simon Nandhra – ‘Sher Punjabi’ (Moviebox) Simon Nandhra is back with a new album which ahs yet to be released and this is the first single from that album titled “Perfectly Imperfect”. Take from that title what you will but I’ve heard clippings of said album and must say it’s sounding promising. This track in particular features Ishers of the Hunterz collective on vocals and have to say makes a refreshing change compared to the usual suspects. Some great vocals over a driving bass line topped with some tight percussion Check it out 0:42:25 in
Bianco Pich – ‘Pretty’ – (Checktime Records) I think we’ve all seen Pretty Woman haven’t we? Maybe just me then. This is a remix of the title track that featured in that film. A great little house track that stomps all the way through. That very well known guitar riff plays throughout the track with enough breakdowns & percussion to keep things moving. It’s a cheeky one but works well in the mix. Check it out 0:51:20 in
Josh – ‘O Kurieh’ (VIP) Rup Magon & Qurram Hussain make up Josh as they are today. Josh have been around for the best part of 10 years and their sound is a fusion of Punjabi, Qawwali and pop. I always find that Punjabi acts outside of the UK always bring something that little bit worldly to the table. Their new album ‘Beyond Kismat’ is worth a listen and this particular track being one for the summer. Uplifting! Check it out 1:08:00 in
Sonia Panesar – ‘Nachungi’ (Flavashop Records) A guitar hook, some disco influences and just the right amount of funk in the bass line make this track a must play for your next party. Phat Kat features on production while Sonia’s vocals float effortlessly to create something fresh! Check it out 1:12:00 in
Toddla T Ft Roots Manuva - Watch Me Dance (Ninja Tune) I was lucky enough to check out Prince at Hop Farm a few weeks back and in that same week I came across this gem of a track. And no it’s nothing like Prince but it packs a mean punch in the funk department. This track is ridiculously massive! I can’t get enough of it. Another one for that party preferably outside while the sun is shining down on yo ass! Check it out 1:16:30 in
3Mix Ft Navin Kundra – Nach Le (Monstar Music) 3Mix are a boy band that have teamed up with Asian vocalist Navin Kundra to create this piano, synth laden dance track. Truth be told I’ve never heard Navin Kundra sound like this before. Maybe a chance encounter with JK? All in all this is definitely a grower and I can safely say I seem to like it more now then I did when I first heard which can only be a good thing. The ladies are gonna be all over like this like a 12 yr old on Bieber but have to say there’s enough juice in this track to keep the rest of us entertained. Check it out 1:21:00 in
Manish aka X Fader – Bekhabar – (White) This is a great electro tinged Indian/arabic dance track via Birmingham based producer Manish. I don’t know who the vocalist is but I can say it sounds on the money. Check it out 1:25:20 in
Afrojack – Bangduck – ‘Mogui Remix’ – (Wall Recordings) This tune has been bouncing around in dance land for some time from a producer who is quite frankly on it! A remix is there to lift a track and maybe just maybe take the vibe of the original work to another place. Mogui kills it on this remix by leaving in the original lead riff in while he builds further tension via the pads and that epic breakdown. Massive! Check it out 1:38:35 in
Potential Badboy Ft Junior Dangerous – ‘Lock Em Off’ (Ganja Records) Ganja Records pile it on hard with this one, some great D&B vibes here via Potential who’s being a producer since 92 so let’s just say he knows a thing or two about putting together a tune. Junior Dangerous brings the heat on MC’ing duties. This one’s refreshing in that it’s not over produced like a lot of D&B recently Check it Out 1:53:55 in
