OK, Darryl ‘DMC’ Mcdaniels one half of seminal hip hop group Run DMC is here with his new track ‘Corrected’. This is very much a recent day dance collab in every sense. Mason look after production while Sam Sparro comes in on the Chorus which is great by the way. Sam’s vocals lift the track and compliment DMC’s rhyme.
The release comes with many mixes, the original has got chart appeal writtem all over. I’ve included the original so you get a flava. Other remixes come from Riva Starr, Alex Gopher, J Majik & Wickerman & Ralvero. Original is bloody catchy though, whichever way you swing it. Release date is May on Data records.
I played this on my show for the first time a few weeks back. This track is like breath of fresh air. A piano hook coupled with some very simple stripped back hip hop beats make it a great listen. Vocals come from late Panjabi vocalist Kaka Bhaniawala.
This artist was an absolute legend in the Bhangra scene and just like when Tupac passed away his tracks seem to be coming from the grave. It’s only been a year since his passing so I’m sure there will be more tracks to come from producers that might have bought his vocals online, or tracks that were recorded with him in the studio before his untimely demise.
Anyhoo, have a listen. his searing vocals over Delime’s homemade production is a pleasure to the senses.
I covered Friction last night on the BBC Asiannetwork. Feel free to check out the show on the iplayer in full. (link below)
Would be criminal if I were not to drop a mix. So for your listening pleasure get your ears around my 30 min live mix on from last night. A snippet of what goes down every Sat night on my own show “The Bhangramixtape”.
The 30 minute mix on Frictions show included beats from Nicki Minaj, Dj Sarj’s Tinie Tempah/ Ricky Bhalla mashup, Pulp Fiction them tune ala D&B, An amazing remix of Rude boy via Tom Oke not forgetting some punjabi house through Imran Khan via some Armand Van Helden & many more.
Check out the iplayer at 2:00:00 for the mix > Enjoy!
This is my new show that kicked off last week on Brit Asia TV. The point of which is is to show what’s happening with artists in the UK Bhangra and Asian alternative scene along with what’s bubbling in the UK club scene as well. The clubs covered belong to the world of House, Techno & Electronica.
If you’re not exposed to artists in the UK Asian scene then this is a decent place to get an in sight into some of the players. As well rare insight into UK clubland not seen before on British Asian TV. I had a great time shooting this as is quite evident. All shows will be uploaded weekly after they are broadcast on TV and have been split into 4 parts. Enjoy..
